Singer shot dead by father

PESHAWAR, Jan 20: A young singer and stage drama actress was killed allegedly by her father at her home in Choghal Pura area of Chamkani on Thursday as she had refused to perform in a stage show organized in Karachi, police officials said.

Abida Anwar told the police that her 21-year-old daughter Robina Anwar had been refusing to perform in the stage show organized in Karachi for the last few days despite her husband Mohammad Anwar had made commitment with the organizers.

On Thursday morning the issue was again discussed by the family and when she again refused to perform in the show, her father pulled out a pistol and shot her dead. Police have arrested the accused with the weapon used in the murder.

Meanwhile, three persons were also killed in different incidents here on Thursday.

Irfanullah, son of Mumtaz, a resident of Shahabkhel village in Badhber area, told Pishtakhara police that he was going back to his home along with his cousin Imdad after closing his shop in Tehkal Bala.

He said that when they reached near Sarband village on Bara Road, their rivals Manzoor and Nisar, residents of Ghari Malikhel village of Badhber, allegedly opened fire and killed Imdad on the spot.

The accused escaped after committing the murder. Irfanullah told police that they had old rivalry with the accused.

In another incident, Musharraf, a resident of Bakhshu Pul on Charsadda Road, told the police that he was going along with his father Murad Gul near Metro cinema in the city, when his rivals Hakeem and Bahadar, residents of the same village, allegedly opened fire.
