KARACHI, Nov 18: Around 5,000 houses, situated on either side of Baghdadi's Fida Hussain Sheikha Road and Saifee Lane, are receiving contaminated water for the last one month.

Residents of the affected locality said a number of people, especially children and elderly persons, have fallen victim to contaminated water, and have been suffering from acute abdomenal pain and nausea.

"We have brought the issue to the notice of the KWSB officials, but they have not yet managed to rectify the fault," said a resident of the Saifee Lane.

Suspecting that sewage might be mixing with drinking water, he demanded of the KWSB MD to direct the officials concerned to immediately remove the fault

Meanwhile, people residing on either side of Baghdadi's D D Chaudhry Road, Bismillah Colony and adjacent Lyari Telephone Exchange are suffering on account of shortage of water even on Eid days.

Residents of the affected locality said although water issue had been lingering since July 31, the KWSB officials have not yet removed the fault.

Residents of Gulshan-i-Iqbal's Block 8 complained that they have been facing an acute water acute water shortage for the last three weeks.

A resident of the affected locality, regretted that although he was without water for the last three weeks, all his complaints, including the one which he lodged with the Gulshan Town Nazim on Nov 8 have, so far, remained unheeded.
