ISLAMABAD, Nov 10: Pakistan and Norway have agreed to adopt a joint strategy in the upcoming ministerial round on Doha Development Agenda (DDA) to be held in Hong Kong in December 2005.
The agreement was reached in a meeting of a four-member Norwegian delegation, led by Deputy Minister, Foreign Affairs Mrs Sylvi Graham, with Commerce Minister Humanyun Akhtar Khan here on Wednesday.
During the meeting both the sides discussed DDA and agreed to adopt a joint strategy in the next ministerial round on WTO.
Mr Khan said that the member countries should be realistic in their expectations in order to make the forthcoming round a success.
The commerce minister apprised the delegation of trade and economic reforms undertaken by the government in the recent years, and assured them that Pakistan was safe for foreign investment.
He said that there was a great scope for foreign investment in telecom, hydel power generation, IT and tourism in Pakistan.
Mrs Sylvi Graham appreciated commerce minister's views on enhancing bilateral trade, which she said was in the interest of both the countries.
