MIRPURKHAS: 2 killed in accident

MIRPURKHAS, Oct 9: Two people were killed and three others injured in two road accidents in the district on Friday.

Three persons were on a bike when a jeep collided with it near the Shadi Palli roundabout on the Umerkot-Mirpurkhas road. As a result Ibrahim Halepoto, Peso Meghwar, Purbho Lohar and Bachal Samo were injured.

They were admitted to the Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas. Ibrahim Halepoto died on his way to the hospital. The body was handed over to heirs after post-mortem.

No case was registered till the filing of this report.

In another incident, Shamshad Ali, son of Hameed Rajput, 32, was killed when a coach hit his bicycle on the Naokot-Mirpurkhas road near the Abbas Ali Shah railway crossing in Naokot town. The police arrested the coach driver and cleaner and impounded the vehicle.

PROTEST: A procession was taken out by workers and office-bearers of the Pakistan Telecom Employees Union on Saturday to press the government to accept their demands. They also observed a token hunger strike and suspended the work for two hours.

They took out a procession from the digital telephone exchange in Satellite Town and reached the PTCL customer service centre where they held a protest meeting.
