CHITRAL: Lowari Pass closed

CHITRAL, OCT 9: Chitral received heavy snowfall on Saturday. The Lowari Pass was closed for traffic and the road links between the Mulkhow, Torkhow, Mastuj, Golen and Lotkoh valleys were severed.

Torrential rains started on Friday morning and turned into snowfall in the night.

Maize and rice crops over thousands of acres have been damaged.

Apple orchards in the upper areas of the district have been destroyed while the fruit was yet to be harvested.

Attendance remained thin in government offices and schools and colleges in the area remained closed.

Markets also wore a deserted look.
