KARACHI, Sept 18: Students of Dawood College of Engineering and Technology after holding a detailed meeting with DCET Principal Saleem Chaudhry in presence of senior police and Rangers officials , refused to end their protest for restoration of DCET's accreditation with the Pakistan Engineering Council.
Earlier, police and Rangers arrested several protesting DCET students in front of their college and compelled four of them and the principal to negotiate for culminating their protest and boycott of classes.
According to DCET students, Rangers personnel deployed at the Dawood college was no more willing to "chase and torture" protesting students as they considered their protest justified.
"It was the Rangers' deployment at the DCET, which brought both protesting students and the principal at one table and tried to settle the issue," the students said.
The meeting, which was attended by Lt Col Ahsan and Major Fazal of Rangers, Jamshed Town Police Officer Dr Kamran and DSP Shad Masih besides the college principal and the protesting students, failed to reach any settlement despite threats from the law enforcing agencies.
