LAHORE, Sept 4: The steering committee on Faisalabad Garment City met here on Saturday with Federal Commerce Secretary Tasneem Noorani in the chair.

Among others who attended the meeting were Export Promotion Bureau Director General Ms Rukhsana Shah and 13 leading garments manufacturers from Faisalabad.

Matters relating to the formation of a company to handle the execution of the garment city and acquisition of land for the project were discussed at length.

"All three garment cities being set up at Lahore, Faisalabad and Karachi will start working within 15 months," Mr Noorani told newsmen after the meeting.

He said that land for the Lahore project had been acquired at Multan road.

The garment city being set up over 25 acres would be a three- to four-storey building to house about 25 units. "The factory premises will not be sold, only leased to unit owners," he said.-APP
