KARACHI, Aug 28: A high-level meeting held with Sindh Chief Secretary Mohammad Aslam Sanjrani in chair on Saturday decided that provincial secretaries will conduct surprise visits to the public-sector educational institutions and present recommendations to Sindh Education secretary for their improvement.

During the meeting, a committee comprising former education secretaries, currently serving in other departments, was also formed with Education Secretary Nadir Ali Markhiani as its head, to implement recommendations of a presentation, prepared by Sindh chief secretary in collaboration with federal education ministry.

Mr Sanjrani, who has served as Sindh education secretary in the recent past, will also be a member of the said committee.

On the recommendation of former education secretary Shafiqur Rahman Paracha, the meeting decided that the chief secretary would also conduct surprise visits of the public educational institutions and suggest ways and means for their improvement.

The meeting further decided that the secretaries' committee would remain in contact with Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Ghulam Serwar Khero to seek his department's assistance in development of educational institutions.

Mr Sanjrani called upon the provincial departments to cooperate with the district and city governments under the Sindh Local Government Ordinance.

In this regard, the meeting decided that approval of presentation and recommendations made by the Local Government ACS would be sought from higher authorities.

It was further decided that problems confronting the district governments would be resolved after the approval of the said recommendations, besides coordination between provincial government and districts governments would be strengthened in order to resolve problems of common man.

Mr Sanjrani explained that the departments concerned could make progress in this regard by promoting inter-departmental coordination by contacting Sindh Secretary-General Administration Ijaz Hussain Kazi.

The meeting decided that the chief secretary would call a meeting of districts nazims, provincial secretaries and DCOs after every three months in order to take practical measures to resolve the problems in this regard.

Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Anwar Haider, Agriculture and Electricity Secretary Ashfaq Memon, Information Secretary Mehtab Akbar Rashdi, Health Secretary Ashiq Hussain Memon, IT Secretary S A Qarni, Food Secretary Abid Sheikh, Zakat, Usher & Religious Affairs Secretary Hashim Laghari, Services Secretary Nargis Ghaloo, Forest Secretary Mahmood Ahmed Khan, Population Welfare Secretary Mushtaq Ali Memon and other officials attended the meeting.-PPI
