ISLAMABAD, Aug 21: The exhibition of works by painters and miniaturists goes on at Nomad Art Gallery. The summer art show, which was participated by 14 painters and miniaturists, was opened on Tuesday last. No less then 60 paintings by these 14 artists, well known as well as young and upcoming, are on display for public viewing.

Prominent among the seasoned artists participating in the summer art show include Masood A. Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Anjum Ayub, the US-based Rashid Rasheed and miniaturist Najamul Hassan.

The summer art show, which has become kind of a tradition at the Nomad aimed at providing a rare opportunity to the young artists to rub shoulders with seniors, Nageen Hayat says.

It is a visual treat for the art patrons and art lovers as well as the young artists and a few minutes spent at the gallery are bound to provide the much-needed relief and soothing effect one needs so much amidst the busy life these days.

"The show is also unique in the sense that the art patrons can walk away with the paintings they have bought from the gallery and it would be replaced by new ones. This gives pleasure to the art patrons as well as bring new works of the artists on display immediately," Ms Hayat said.

She was appreciative of all the participating artists but particularly mentioned Rashid Rasheed, a senior US-based Pakistani artist indulging in a unique style of calligraphy. There were quite a few paintings by Mr Rasheed on display which gave a chance to the viewers to look at different styles and unique techniques the artist has employed in his work.

Rasheed seemed to be indulging in the traditional Japanese style of paper making and calligraphy. The bold black inscriptions on hand-made white paper with a prominent red spot strategically placed abundantly reflect Rasheed's interest towards the traditional Japanese style of calligraphy.

Anjum Ayub has displayed some of her latest works and it was a pleasant experience to see her indulging in sketching and one of the portrait was completely different from the rest of her work up at the show.
