ISLAMABAD, July 10: Acting president Mohammedmian Soomro has summoned a National Assembly session at 5pm on July 16, according to a notification issued on Saturday. Sources said the session was being convened as the government wanted to bring an amendment to the Political Parties Order.
At present a person is not allowed to keep government and party offices simultaneously.
Recently, Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain nominated provincial office-bearers of the Pakistan Muslim League and said a formal announcement in this regard would be made after amending the PPO.
They said the opposition, on the other hand, was planning to raise the issue of "misuse of government funds and state machinery" in the election campaign of Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz.
"We will definitely raise the issue on the floor of the house owing to its serious nature," said a leader of the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy.
The ARD leader said the final strategy would be chalked out in a parliamentary meeting of the alliance before the session.
