ISLAMABAD, June 21: Interior Minister Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat has ruled out any possibility of a change of Sindh governor and said that the provincial government will get all possible help and enough time to stabilize the law and order situation in Karachi.

He was talking to reporters after the ground-breaking ceremony of Sector G-13's development work on Monday, the minister said there was no need to enforce governor's rule in Sindh. "The situation is still under control in Karachi. If it gets worse, the centre would think about enforcement of governor's rule in Sindh," he said.

The minister said that law-enforcement agencies had apprehended terrorists involved in 90 per cent of high-profile cases in Karachi. "Except the cases of assassination of PPP leader Munawwar Suhrawardy and Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai, persons involved in all other terrorism cases have been arrested," he added.

Mr Hayat said that he was personally supervising the investigations into the Suhrawardy case, adding that law-enforcement agencies had made a big breakthrough.

Responding to a question about the killing of tribal leader Nek Muhammad, the minister said the government apprehended a reaction from followers and supporters in major cities of the country.

The centre has directed provincial governments to take extra security measures to avert any terrorist activities as backlash to Nek Mohammad's killing. The minister said the provincial governments had been directed to install security cameras at strategic locations in all major cities, especially in the provincial capitals, to keep an eye on suspects.

He said that the operation in Wana and other areas would continue till these areas were cleansed of terrorists and foreign militants. Talking about the recently busted terrorist group 'Jundallah,' the minister said that so far nine members of the group had been nabbed.

The government, he said, was committed to rooting out terrorism and a comprehensive strategy had been worked out in this regard.
