KARACHI, June 19: An additional district and sessions judge, South, reserved on Saturday judgment in a murder case against the brother-in-law of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

Nasir Hussain, husband of Sanam Bhutto, and his driver Niaz Hussain, have been prosecuted for the murder of Ali Ahmed Soomro, who was an adviser to the late chief minister Jam Sadiq Ali. They were booked by the Defence police in 1992.

Judge Syed Saeed Hasan fixed June 25 for the pronouncement of judgment after hearing the final arguments from the two sides.

KIDNAPPING CASE: An anti-terrorism court reserved the judgment in a kidnapping for ransom case against two brothers.

Mohammed Shahid and Mohammed Zahid had been tried for kidnapping Mohammed Amir Haroon for ransom on March 22 in the Site police jurisdiction.

Judge Arshad Noor Khan of the ATC-3 fixed June 23 for the pronouncement of the verdict after hearing the final arguments by special public prosecutor Naimat Ali Randhawa and defence counsel Ashfaq Rafique Janjua.

According to the prosecution, the two brothers with two absconding accused kidnapped the victim on way to his office. The kidnappers took him away in his car and demanded Rs2 million from his father for his release.

The kidnappers allegedly called the victim's father at a desolate place in Defence. The kidnappers took a cheque for Rs980,000 from the victim's father, Mohammed Haroon.

The two absconding accused made the victim, his father and the driver hostage and the two brothers took the cheque to the Shanghai Bank in the victim's father's car, which was equipped with a tracking device. The bank officials refused to pay the money as they suspected the signatures' authenticity.

The two culprits were caught while sitting in the car, parked in the lot of the Shaheen Complex, as a relative of Mr Haroon's informed the tracking company.
