MIRPURKHAS, June 12: DPO Amin Yousufzai suspended four officers of the Jhuddo police on Thursday. The action was taken under the directives of the Sindh chief minister, requiring the DPO to set up a camp in Jhuddo to check increasing cases of theft in the town.

The DP visited Jhuddo and suspended four police officials, Sharif Hoath, Karim Khoso, Mubarak Arain and Imdad Arain, for failing to check rise in crime rate.

Jhuddo SHO Mehboob Lund has gone on leave.

PROTEST PUT OFF: The farmers of the Puran distribuary postpond their protest in Kot Ghulam Mohammad on Friday after being assured by the irrigation officers that water would be provided to them within two days.

Over 200 farmers, led by Chaudhry Saeed and Mir Akhtar Talpur, had been holding protest demonstrations and staging sit- ins in the towns for the last three days to protest against acute shortage of water in the water channel for a month.

During Friday's protest, they told journalists that water, being supplied to the land of influential landlords, was stolen from the head of the distributary, depriving tail-enders of their share of water with the result that their crops were damaged.
