ISLAMABAD, May 31: President Gen Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali reiterated on Monday their resolve to rid the country of sectarianism and extremism and vowed to continue the fight against terrorism.

Prime Minister Jamali met President Musharraf at his camp office and briefed him about his six-day visit to Saudi Arabia, official sources said. He informed the president about his talks with King Fahad, Prince Abdullah and other Saudi leaders during his stay.

Both the leaders also discussed the law and order situation in the country and expressed their anguish over escalation of terrorist activities in Karachi. They also discussed the ongoing Wana operation and violation of Pakistan's airspace by US forces operating inside Afghanistan.

They also discussed the prevailing political situation in the country. The prime minister informed the president about his government's efforts to present a relief package for the poor in next year's budget. The sources said the prime minister also informed the president about PML's organizational issues.

The Monday meeting is being viewed with a lot of interest in view of media reports suggesting that differences between PML chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Prime Minister Jamali have reached a point of no return and in the given scenario the possibility of an in-house change cannot be ruled out.
