SAHIWAL, June 1: The district government is authorized to impose tax on privately-run hospitals and educational institutes.

This was stated by the local district Nazim during a council’s meeting here on Friday.

The participants expressed concern over delay in completion of ongoing development projects. It was unanimously decided that contractors, using substandard material in construction, would be punished.

The house rejected increase in property tax by the Excise and Taxation department, demanding immediate withdrawal of the decision.

It reviewed the proposition of restoring the Jahaz Ground water supply scheme which had not been working for the last 11 months.

The house condemned abnormal loadshedding by Mepco and its officials’ justification.
