KARACHI, March 27: The city government has undertaken major development projects with the aim to help provide the basic facilities to the citizens.
This was stated by City Nazim Naimatullah Khan while speaking as chief guest at a ceremony here on Saturday.
In his speech, Naimatullah Khan also spoke about the city government's future plan of action and the existing local government system.
The function was arranged to award certificates to the participants of the week-long training course on financial management held under the auspices of the Municipal Training and Research Institute (MTRI).
As many as 44 people, including nazims and naib-nazims, lady councillors, chairmen of monitoring committees and EDOs of various towns and districts attended the course. The participants of the course hailed from three provinces - Sindh, Balochistan and the NWFP.
Meanwhile, City Nazim Naimatullah Khan inaugurated the construction work on Varli Road in Soldier Bazaar.
The construction work of 83,800sq-feet-long and 1,862sq-feet- wide road, which had been suffering from damages for the last 15 years, will be completed within two months at a cost of Rs1.885 million.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Khan said that the road was being constructed on the demand of area people. He said that it was surprising that nobody paid attention to the road in this busy area for the last 15 years.
Nazim said that each road in Karachi was being constructed on international standard with prior arrangements for sewerage and water disposal.-APP
