HYDERABAD, March 20: Sindh Teachers' Action Committee chairman Qazi Aminuddin has sent an open letter to the provincial education minister to hold talks with the committee on its charter of demands.
The committee had not responded to the SSC examinations boycott call by the Government Secondary Teachers' Association.
Mr Aminuddin in the letter demanded that problems of teachers should be resolved.
The teachers' demands include restoration of M.Ed and B.Ed increments, early decision about selection grade and move-over cases, reinstatement of 13 woman teachers of Hyderabad city, regularization of 52 woman secondary teachers of Hyderabad, simplification of house purchase loan procedure, employment of children of deceased teachers and preference in employment to teachers' offspring.
Their other demands are restoration of science teaching allowance, grant of promotion to drawing teachers, workshop instructors and oriental teachers to the status of HST, uniformity in rural and urban allowances and award of commendatory certificates to officials and teachers who had taken part in the examinations.
NEW VC: Sindh universities chancellor Dr Ishratul Ibad has appointed Dr Bashir Ahmad Shaikh as the vice-chancellor of the Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam for four years.
Dr Shaikh is the eighth vice-chancellor of the university.
MUET: The Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, has informed failed candidates of the fifth term that their supplementary examinations of B.E/B.CRP/B.ARCH, scheduled for March 20, would now commence on April 12.
However, the examinations of other subjects of various terms would be conducted as per schedule, the university further announced.
LUMHS: The Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, has announced that the first professional BDS bi-annual examinations will start from April 19.
Misbehaviour: The Sindh University Teachers' Association on Saturday condemned the misbehaviour of some miscreants with teachers of the commerce department and demanded action against them.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, SUTA secretary Hidayatullah Mahessar said the association at a meeting presided over by its president took strong notice of the incident.
The statement said the miscreants had compelled students to boycott classes. They had also manhandled students, it further said.
