KARACHI, March 12: Indian skipper Saurav Ganguly said on Friday that security concerns on the tour can be removed by regularly playing against Pakistan.

"If we play frequently in each other's country we can remove these problems," Ganguly told reporters in an overcrowded press conference at the National Stadium soon after the arrival of Indian squad in the city.

He said Pakistan was provided similar security when they toured India in 1999.

Ganguly hoped the series will help bring the poeple of the two countries closer.

Ganguly's Pakistani counterpart Inzamam-ul-Haq promised aggressive cricket in the ODIs. "We will play positive and attacking cricket," he told reporters. "We will not take the Indians lightly and go for attack from the start."

Inzamam admitted that both teams were under pressure and no one can deny that fact. "It's a part of the game and we have to plan things accordingly. You can't take things for granted."

Pakistan coach Javed Miandad reiterated that the series will help promote goodwill between the two countries. "People are happy to see the Indian team in Pakistan after a long time. They are obviously looking forward to the series.

"Cricket will defintely help in bringing the people closer. This in turn will improve relations between the two countries," he added.

Commenting on the outcome of the match, Miandad said it is very difficult to predict anything in one-day game. "This is the different ball game."

India's New Zealander coach John Wright did not attend the media briefing because he was conducting his team's practice session at the stadium.-APP
