KARACHI, March 12: The city government has started development work with a cost of Rs3 billion, out of its Rs6 billion share, under the Tameer-i-Karachi Programme (TKP) for which consultants have been appointed.
Foundation stone of some projects has also been laid whereas contact with other stakeholders were being maintained in this regard. This was mentioned during a meeting here on Friday to review position of the programme. City Nazim Niamatullah Khan was in the chair.
Those who attended the meeting included Naib Nazim Tariq Hasan, EDO (Works and Services) and Project Director of the TKP Shoaib Siddiqui, EDO (Finance and Planning) Iqbal Hasan Zaidi, EDO (Revenue) Wasim Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director of the KWSB) Suleman Chandio, Brig Sajjad of the 5-Corps and engineers Salim Azhar and Izharul Haq.
The meeting was told that the PC-1 for the projects funded through the city government's share and those to be financed through the federal government's share (Rs5 billion) would be finalized.
Consultants have been appointed for flyover projects at Hasan Square, Sohrab Goth and Shah Faisal to Malir; Rashid Minhas Road, FTC underpass, Karsaz-Sharea Faisal underpass, etc., whereas tenders for the said projects would be sought within a week.
It was decided that two senior KWSB engineers and one each from the Transport and Communication Department and Master Plan Department would be transferred to TKP Projects Cell within the week to sort out problems relating to water and sewerage.-PPI
