LAHORE, Feb 7:Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar M. Khan said on Saturday that he wanted qualitative and not quantitative change in the domestic cricket setup.

The mushroom growth of teams in premier cricket would have an unhealthy effect on the game's quality, he said responding to reporters' queries about the demand of KCCA and LCCA for fielding two teams each in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy.

Shaharyar claimed that the number of matches in Pakistan's domestic season was far more than it was in India, Australia and the West Indies. Still the game's standard was not improving, he regretted.

He acknowledged the concern expressed by KCCA and LCCA that their upcoming talent would get little chance if they were not allowed to field two teams each, but added that they would get an opportunity as Test cricketers had less time for domestic season due to hecticinternational schedule.

He said that a commission would be formed after the Indian team's tour to build a strong and effective domestic structure keeping in view all aspects since the present setup was not good enough.

He said that there was not a single spectator to watch the Patron's Trophy final at Karachi which showed that the fans had no interest in who won or lost.

Shaharyar said that he recently met President Pervez Musharraf, patron-in-chief of PCB, who approved the names of members on the advisory council.

He said that he would announce details of his meeting with the president at a press conference on Monday.
