HYDERABAD, Feb 7: The DCO has directed field officers of the district education department to regularly visit schools and submit reports so that steps can be taken to improve the quality of education.
The DCO, Mohammad Hussain Syed, gave the directive while presiding over a meeting held at the Shahbaz Hall here on Saturday to review the working of the education department.
Mr Syed stressed the need for improving the education sector.
He said lack of interest by officers and teaching staff of institutions was harming the cause of education.
He urged the officials to make sincere and result-oriented efforts for upliftment of educational institutions.
The DCO said education officers and teachers would be rewarded for their good performance.
Underling the importance of training of officers and staff, he directed the EDO, education, Manzoor Hussain Bhutto, to make efforts in this regard and approach training institutions concerned.
He said the government had announced scholarships and other schemes to improve attendance of students.
The EDO, education, told the meeting that vigilance committees were being constituted at taluka level to inspect schools.
BY-ELECTION: The Deputy Election Commissioner, Hyderabad division, here on Saturday announced that by-elections for vacant seats of members, union council Nazims and Naib Nazims would be held on March 28 on separate electorate basis.
BODY FORMED: The DCO has constituted a committee to probe into allegations levelled by advocate Sajid Bin Wajid regarding illegal allotment of a railway department land in Latifabad by the taluka municipal administration.
The committee, comprising the district officer, finance and planning, Abdul Sattar Jatoo, and the Mukhtiarkar of the Qasimabad taluka, Moatasim Abbasi, has been directed to submit its report with recommendations to DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed in one month.
The committee, constituted on Jan 31, will have to ascertain the ownership of the land and investigate whether its transfer was illegal. It will also identify names of officials concerned if it was found that the transfer of the land was illegal.
Meanwhile, the DCO stopped the allotment or sale of such land till a decision was taken on the report of the inquiry committee.
When contacted by telephone, Latifabad Nazim Abdul Jabbar Khan said he himself had demanded an inquiry into the allegations.
