PESHAWAR, Feb 5: A man and a minor girl were killed and four others received serious injuries in a gas cylinder explosion at a house at the Shaheen Muslim Town on Thursday.
The victims have been identified as Rehmanullah and Mah Noor. A member of the said house had reportedly purchased some gas cylinders from a junk dealer and they were trying to fix a portion of it by hitting it with a hammer.
An official of the Gulbahar Police Station said that Amjad, son of Abdul Ghaffar, was a motor mechanic and he, along with his friends, Rehmanullah and Tahir, had purchased some cylinders from the junk dealer.
The injured people told police officials that the shape of the cylinders appeared to be a bit unusual and they purchased it presuming that these were Russian-made.
Amjad and his friends were hitting it with a hammer in the drawing room when the explosion occurred. The roof of the room caved in and other items present in the room caught fire as a result of the explosion. The blast left Amjid, Tahir, Shamshad and Noreen injured.
