GUJRANWALA, Feb 5: An SHO and constable were injured when a traffic police constable, who was allegedly involved in kidnapping the District Bar Association president and other office-bearers and detaining them at traffic police office , attacked them to foil his arrest at Ahmadnagar village on Thursday. However, a police contingent later arrested him at his residence.

Reports said traffic police ASI Zahoor Husain and constable Azmat manhandled Advocate Rana Suleman, a DBA member, for interrupting their challaning a motorcycle-rickshaw owned by close relative of the bar member few days ago.

Later, the constable detained bar president Saifullah, secretary-general Muhammad Sarwar and joint secretary Amir at an office when they went to rescue their colleague.

A bailiff of the district and sessions judge recovered them the same day after which the lawyers got registered FIRs against the ASI and constable.

SHO Shabbir Husain and constable Rafiq on Thursday raided main suspect Azmat's house at his village, but the latter attacked them with clubs and injured them. He was arrested later in the day.

SHOT DEAD: A police volunteer was shot dead and his colleague injured by robbers during a strike at Kot Ladha village on Thursday.

Reports said Sanaullah and Asad were patrolling in uniform around the village when they saw armed men looting cash and valuables from passers-by. The robbers opened fire on them, killing Sanaullah instantly. His colleague was injured and taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition.

BISE: The local Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has banned taking fresh examination by in-service teachers of PTC, CT, OT and arts and crafts in future and issued notification. However, the board allowed the teachers to take the supplementary examination.

A BISE spokesman said here on Thursday the supplementary examination would be held along with the intermediate annual examination in April.

The last date for submitting admission forms with single fee is Feb 9 and with double fee Feb 21. The candidates can submit applications with triple fee by March 25.

Meanwhile, the board announced the schedule of intermediate part-I and part-II annual examination and fixed Feb 14 as the last date for submitting admission forms with single fee.

Two die: Two youths died and three others had to be hospitalized in serious condition after they took liquor in Wazirabad on Thursday.

Sources said the youths had gathered in an empty house at Saijhan locality of Jinnah Colony.

The deceased were identified as Muhammad Murtaza (19) and Mehmood Ahmad (23) and those hospitalized at Mayo in Lahore as Nadeem, Khalid and Shahid.

Police are investigating the matter.
