KARACHI, Feb 1: An auto-mechanic was shot dead by armed suspects in Old Golimar on Sunday. Police said two men on a motorcycle came near Shahnawaz Chowk and sprayed Imam Bux, 30, with bullets. The victim died before he could be shifted to the hospital, they added.
Police termed the incident as a result of some family dispute. The victim was son-in-law of Mr Yousaf, who is also father-in-law of the notorious dacoit, Rehman.
The SHO Pak Colony, Sohail Akhtar, told Dawn that after completing the initial investigations, police suspected Shahid, who was an associate of dacoit Rehman, as one of the killers.
ACCIDENT: A teenager died in an accident on Maripur Road on Sunday. Police said that Nasir, 15, who was riding a donkey-cart was hit by a speeding coach (PE-5017). The victim was taken to the Civil Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police said that the errant driver escaped from the spot following the accident.
SUICIDE: A young man committed suicide in Sachal area on Sunday. Police said that Abdul Jaleel, 25, was a waiter at a local restaurant and used to live along with some bachelors in Sachal area. In a fit of depression, Jaleel ended his life by hanging himself from the ceiling fan on Sunday evening.
His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem examination. The victim hailed from Abbotabad, police added.
FIRE: A fire broke out in a factory in Quaidabad on Sunday. According to the spokesman for fire department, the fire erupted in a glass factory. Five fire-tenders worked for several hours to control the fire, he said. However, the cause or extent of damage could not be ascertained immediately.
