KARACHI, March 21: City Nazim Niamatullah Khan has stressed the need to develop reading habits among the students besides technological advancements.

‘The decline in the reading habits among students could impede the development process of the country’, he said this while inaugurating a book fair at Saifi Institute of Technology on Monday.

The nazim said the present advancement in western technology was the outcome of Muslim’s aptitude towards scientific research and inventions.

He said that after the fall of Muslim Spain all the Muslim literature and books were shifted to the west, which had laid the foundations of technology through those books and research work of the Muslims.

The nazim said that great scientists and researchers were born when they pondered deeply into the Holy Quran which was the source of all knowledge, provided guidance to all human beings and was the only source for the well-being of humanity.

Mr Khan called for focussing on our research works and promoting the habit of reading.

The nazim added that information technology was not the substitute of books as books taught us contemplation and gave us vision.
