PESHAWAR, March 12: An additional district and sessions judge, Rajab Ali Khan, on Friday confirmed the pre-arrest bail of a union council nazim accused of verifying fake documents.

The National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) had lodged an FIR with the Bhadabher police station against the nazim of the Bazidkhel union council, Malik Mehr Zaman, for verifying domicile and other documents of an Afghan refugee, Syed Gul, who wanted to get his computerised identity card.

Advocate Ishaq Khalil appeared for the applicant-nazim and argued that Nadra had lodged a fabricated case.

He produced various documents before the court, contending that Syed Gul was a Pakistani national and not a refugee. He also produced identity cards of Gul’s parents, maintaining that they were permanent residents of Bazidkhel.
