KARACHI, Feb 27: Three persons died in separate road traffic accidents in different parts of the city on Sunday. Police said that Bilal, 45, was on his cycle when a speeding coach hit him in Landhi No 1.

The victim died on the spot. His body was shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities. In the meantime, area people managed to get hold of the coach driver and gave him sever beating.

On M.R. Kiyani Road, a young boy died in accident near Shaheen Complex. Police said that Taj Muhammad was standing at the foot-board of 1-C bus when he slipped. He was run over by the same bus. The wounded boy was immediately taken to Civil Hospital where he died during treatment.

In Steel Town, a pedestrian died in a hit-and-run accident. Police said that Imam Bukhsh, 50, was crossing the main road when he was knocked down to death. His body was shifted to the JPMC for post mortem examination.

KILLED: A passer-by died in an accidental firing in Abbas Town on Sunday. Police said that Khalid Mehmood, 24, was going home on his cycle when the official weapon of a police constable Azeem accidentally went off.

Khalid was rushed to the nearby Patel Hospital from where he was referred to the JPMC. However, he succumbed to wounds on his way to the JPMC. Hospital sources said that the victim had suffered a burst of bullets.

According to the police, Azeem was the police guard of Maulana Hasan Turabi. He was sitting outside the house of Maulana when the accident occurred. Initially, the guard fled but later surrendered himself to police.

In Rizvia Society, a faith heeler was killed near his house on Saturday. Police said that Mohammad Bukhsh, 72, was a faith heeler. His nephew, Mohammad Yunus, who lived with him, told the police that two unidentified men threw the body of his uncle near his house and fled.

He took him to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where the victim was pronounced dead on arrival. The doctors said that Mohammad Bukhsh was severely beaten with blunt weapon which led to rupture his vital parts in the chest leading to his immediate death. Yunus got a murder case registered against unknown persons.

KIDNAPPED: Armed suspects attacked three houses in Lyari and kidnapped a young girl from the area on Sunday. Police said that the house of former outlaw Salamu came under grenade attack allegedly by the members of the Mullah Sultan group, a sub-group of Rehman Dakait. Two neighbouring houses also came under attack. According to the inmates, the attackers kidnapped a 12-year-old girl, the niece of Salamu, and fled.

ARREST: Police arrested a man and recovered a grenade from his possession in Korangi on Sunday evening. A senior police officer said that a policeman was tipped off that a man was sitting in a street near Kabaddi Ground in Korangi with some explosive. The police raided the street and arrested the man, identified as Shahid. A grenade was recovered from his possession.

Dispelling the impression that Shahid wanted to hurl it on a mourning procession in connection with Muharram, he said that the procession had already culminated when Shahid was arrested.

SUICIDE: A youth committed suicide by consuming poisonous stuff at his home in Azizabad police limits. Quoting the statement of family, police said that Mohammad Shaban, 18, was mentally sick.

They said that his mental state was severe for the past some days. He consumed some poisonous stuff and fell unconscious. He was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Police said that they had investigated the case and found no foul play. After autopsy, police handed over the body to the family for burial.
