SUKKUR, May 29: The Sukkur Range, AIGP, Nayyar Hussnain on Wednesday took serious notice of an armed attack by a group of dacoits at the Wapda Grid Station near Thul, Jacobabad District, in which the bandits not only looted 32 employees of the grid station but also kidnapped a foreman, M. Asghar, on Tuesday night.

He ordered the DPO, Jacobabad, to initiate a high-level inquiry and talk with the officials of the border police between Sindh and Balochistan and take appropriate action against the police officials who failed to apprehend the dacoits.

The armed dacoits from Balochistan raided the Thul Grid Station, snatched cash, wristwatches, and other valuables from the employees working there. When they were leaving they took the foreman as a hostage.

Police sources in Jacobabad claimed that a police party led by the DSP, Thul, went after the dacoits. The dacoits fired a rocket launcher on the police party as a result of which two police mobiles and an armoured personnel carrier were damaged.

Police claimed that one of the dacoits, Shahjahan Nandwani, was killed in the firing.

BUSINESSMAN KIDNAPPED: Five armed dacoits intercepted a truck loaded with bricks on the Sui Road, near Kashmor, and kidnapped a businessman of Sadiqabad identified as Rozi Khan Pathan.

The Kashmor police did not register a case as they claimed that the incident occurred on the border area of Sindh and Punjab, which was beyond their jurisdiction.

CAR SNATCHED: A gang of dacoits intercepted a car between Kandhkot and Kashmor and snatched it on gunpoint after overpowering its driver.

HIGHWAY BLOCKED: Wagon drivers blocked the Indus Highway, near Kashmor, on Tuesday night against the attitude of the DSP Kashmor who they said tortured a wagon driver, Qurban Pathan.

They raised slogans against the police.

Later, they ended the blockade.
