KARACHI, Feb 2: The formal inauguration of the new laboratory building of the Internal Centre for Chemical Sciences (ICCS), University of Karachi, has been scheduled for Friday (Feb 4).

Sources on the campus said that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz would be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony to be attended by Chairman of the Higher Education Commission Prof Attaur Rahman, KU Vice Chancellor Dr Pirzada Qasim, besides others.

According to an ICCS communication, the new laboratory, located near the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, has been completed at a cost of Rs30 million. The press release states that the new lab is the largest academic research facility in the country.

The Centre's laboratory wing, with several unique architectural features reflecting Islamic and Pakistani approach, comprises 40 labs, the communication adds.
