Marble, granite policy

ISLAMABAD, Feb 2: Federal Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives Jehangir Tareen said on Wednesday the marble and granite sector strategy would be finalized by the end of March to achieve an investment of Rs2 billion and the export target of $500 million in this area.

Tareen while presiding over a high level meeting here in the ministry said the marble and granite sector would be addressed scientifically with a comprehensive and effective strategy.

The minister claimed that the country needed an urgent solution to the prevailing poverty and unemployment issues. He expressed confidence that granite and marble sector had a potential to address such issues.

In this regard, he advised all the stakeholders to put their input soon as this strategy will have to be finalized before the end of March. -APP
