PESHAWAR, May 28: Veteran Muslim Leaguer and former State Minister, Mohammad Younis Elahi has said key political figures of the country should positively respond to the call of President Musharraf which he made in his televised address to nation on Monday.

Talking to APP here, he said it was time to forge unity in our ranks and files to foil the nefarious designs of India which had amassed its troops on our eastern borders. He said at this critical juncture, it was the duty of the nation to get united.

The world community, he said, should also take note of the Indian brutalities unleashed by it in the held valley and added that President Musharraf had categorically declared that Pakistan would continue to extend political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri freedom movement.

The top political figures, he hoped, would give a positive response to the invitation of President Musharraf by attending the forthcoming meeting to be held in Islamabad on 31st.

He said President Musharraf believed in consultation and wanted to take the nation into confidence in decisions on issues of national importance. Since the country was passing through a difficult stage, therefore, “we should set aside our differences and work collectively for the integrity and solidarity of the country no matter who is at the helm of affairs”.

Moreover, he appreciated the categorical announcement made by the president about holding of general election between Oct 7 to 11 this year.—APP
