KARACHI, May 28: The repair work of KWSB’s 84-inch dia pipeline, Siphon-19, was completed on Monday night and water supply to affected parts of the city resumed from Tuesday morning.

It may be mentioned here that Siphon-19, which supplies water from the Indus source to COD, had developed a major leak near Karachi University.

The KWSB started repair work on Sunday night and work was to be completed in 48 hours as per schedule. But on the directive of the KWSB MD, Brig Behram Khan, the line was repaired in 18 hours and water released into the siphon on Monday night.

At present, the KWSB said, 470 mgd water is being supplied to the city from all sources and all areas are being provided supplies as per quota.

A KWSB spokesman said that the water supply position in North Nazimabad, Nazimabad and Buffer Zone is normal and these areas are being provided water from the Sakhi Hasan Pumping Station through four pumping motors.—APP
