TOBA TEK SINGH, Jan 12: The ruling group led by the Punjab Bar Council member, Mian Muhammad Afzal, defeated the opponent group in the District Bar Association elections here on Wednesday.

A union council Nazim and ruling group candidate Chaudhry Rafiq Randhawa defeated former PBC member Mian Masood Shahid with a margin of 30 votes for the president slot.

Mahmood Akhtar Kalloo has been elected vice-president, Nasir Iqbal secretary-general, Riaz Gill joint secretary, Ghulam Abbas Shah finance secretary, Mubashir Dogar librarian and Mian Naseeruddin Humayoon auditor.

While the eight elected executive committee are: Amir Riaz, Abdul Basit, Raza Shahid, Malik Amjad, Naeem Akhtar, Najmul Hasan, Muhammad Arshad and Sanaullah.

COTTON BALES: Cotton ginning and pressing factories in the district have produced a record 285,200 cotton bales during the current season. This was claimed by Agriculture Department EDO Mian Shafiq Muhammad here on Wednesday.

He said that a grow more cotton campaign of his department remained successful and it was expected that growers would take further interest in sowing cotton next season.
