MIRPURKHAS, Dec 22: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that the law and order situation in the province is improving and directed the RPO of Hyderabad to ensure decrease in the crime graph in his region.
He was speaking as chief guest on the closing ceremony of the Mirpurkhas cultural festival at the police lines ground here on Wednesday. He said that jobs would be provided to people on merit but all the jobless people could not be employed at one time given the ratio of joblessness in Sindh.
He said that a revolution was taking place in the field of communication during the present regime as Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas road is being widened to improve its standard. Other roads connecting Mirpurkhas-Sanghar and Mirpurkhas with other towns would also be improved on priority basis.
He said that the Sui gas would soon be provided to towns of the district and the federal government had been approached in this context. He further said that his government had tried to bridge the gap between rural and urban areas that had been witnessed in the past by holding such cultural festivals.
He announced the establishment of a recreation park in Mirpurkhas and said the government would give land and funds for the purpose. Earlier, Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Shabbir Ahmed Kaimkhani said that he wanted to establish a cultural centre in Mirpurkhas at a cost of Rs42 million, approved by the Sindh government.
He said that such festivals would be held in other districts also. Adviser to the chief minister Faqeer Jadam Mangrio, Mirpurkhas District Nazim Pir Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani and others were present on the occasion.
REPORT: A member of the education committee of the district council, Khalid Pervez Sadaf, in his report, submitted before the district council, said that performance of the education department in Mirpurkhas remained unsatisfactory.
The report was submitted during the current session. He said that available funds could not be utilized properly in the education department due to non-cooperation of concerned officers with elected representatives. He said such attitude was bound to affect members' commitment to improve standard of education.
He said that in the current year the district government was provided Rs27 million by the Sindh government under the head of school management committees (SMCs) for proper utilization of better educational facilities.
The chairman of council's coordination committee, Mir Nasrullah Khan, presented the report regarding development schemes, being executed under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme, ADP and DERA (Drought Emergency Relief Assistance) with the coordinated efforts of the district nazim and the DCO.
He said that schemes were monitored regarding their approved estimates and quality of work adding so far no complaint was received regarding any development work.
A member, Kamal Khan Nohani, said that under the Tawana Pakistan Programme food of any kind was not being provided to girl students in schools of rural areas and called for an inquiry into the matter.
Rahim Bux Makrani, Zulfikar Ali Junejo, Zaheer Ahmed and Ali Gohar Shah said that the report of the educational committee should be sent to the Sindh government so that effective measures for improving standard of education could be taken in the district.
