GUJRANWALA, May 27: The banking court No 1, Gujranwala, ordered on Monday the auction of the properties of three defaulters besides issuing warrant for the arrest of 15 others.

These defaulters owed Rs2.5 million to various banks.

ACQUITTED: The anti-terrorism court No 1, Gujranwala, acquitted on Monday an accused involved in a bomb blast in Sialkot when witness changed their statements.

According to the prosecution, Muhammad Shahbaz alias Fauji was involved in bomb blast in Sialkot city on Sept 19, 2001, in which five people were killed and over 45 were injured.

Another accused in the case, Dilawar Hussain, allegedly committed suicide in jail. The court has declared Munir Ahmad a proclaimed offender.

STABBED, KILLED: An employee of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) was killed allegedly by his rivals in Maan Ladheywala Warraich village on Monday.

Family told police that Irfan Aslam was on his way to his outhouse when the accused intercepted him. They attacked him with knives and escaped after killing him on the spot.

Police registered the case.

LOOTED: Robbers looted a multinational company’s employees and also took away a car and a motorcycle in three strikes in and around the city on Monday.

Some employees of a multinational company were going to city after receiving payments from retailers of Ladheywala Warraich village. They were intercepted near Kot Ladha village by the robbers who snatched Rs72,000 from them and escaped.

The car (LRB-3991) of Rizwan and the motorcycle (GAE-5873) of Shahbaz Khan were driven away at gunpoint from the city.

TRAFFIC VIOLATORS: As many as 947 vehicles were issued tickets for violation of traffic rules and Rs182,000 fine was recovered from the owners.

This was stated by Traffic SP Muhammad Iftikhar Pirzada and DSP Syed Intisar Hussain Jaffari on Monday.

Talking to newsmen here, they said the tickets were issued to 60 buses, 317 wagons, 209 rickshaws, nine coasters, nine trucks, 26 tractor-trolleys, 79 pick-ups and 26 cars.

Around 208 vehicles were impounded while 198 drivers were arrested.

POs HELD: The district police claimed on Monday to have arrested 55 proclaimed offenders and busted about a dozen gangs of dacoits and robbers.

Illegal weapons and looted goods in huge quantity were also recovered from them during the last fortnight, SSP Muhammad Aslam Tarin told newsmen on Monday.

He claimed that these POs, involved in various crimes of heinous nature, were arrested from Chehal Bela (Wazirabad), Nausheran Virkan and Wahando village.

Five rifles, six guns, eight revolvers and as many pistols, two mausers, one stain-gun and many bullets besides looted goods were recovered from them.

Cash awards: Gepco employees were given cash awards on Monday for recovery of outstanding dues from defaulters.

Gepco Chief Executive Brig Mushtaq Ahmad Chaudhry (retired) distributed the award among 126 employees.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the recovery of dues from defaulters whose connections were severed was a hard job.
