ISLAMABAD, Dec 20: Chief of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz group) and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday dissolved the party's central working committee and all provincial organizations and appointed Iqbal Zafar Jhagra as the party's new secretary general.

This was announced by PML-N Chairman Raja Zafarul Haq at a news conference here on Monday evening. Mr Haq announced that Mr Sharif had appointed former secretary general Saranjam Khan as the party's senior vice-president because of his valuable services for the party and democracy.

He said the PML-N was being reorganized view of possible fresh elections in the country. He said that other office-bearers would be appointed soon to get best possible results in the next general elections.

He said that Mr Sharif had dissolved the provincial organizations and appointed their former presidents as provincial chief organizers. Moreover, he said, Mr Sharif had accepted the resignation of Sindh PML-N president Imdad Chandio and appointed Mamnoon Hussain as the chief organizer of the party in the province.

He said Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa, Pir Sabir Shah, Sardar Yaqoob Nasir and Hafiz Hafeezur Rahman had been made chief organizers for Punjab, the NWFP, Balochistan and the Northern Areas, respectively.

He said that a five-member disciplinary committee would be set up soon under Article 47 of the party's constitution. Raja Zafar announced the decisions after holding a meeting with the acting president of the party, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, in Adiyala Jail and informed him about Mr Sharif's decision. Mr Hashmi's daughter, MNA Maimoona Hashmi, and MNA Khwaja Saad Rafiq also attended the meeting.
