RAWALPINDI, May 27: The Rawalpindi district will get half of the paramedical staff required by government-run health care facilities, sources in the health department said here on Monday.

There are almost 444 vacancies of paramedics in the district’s health care facilities, including Basic Health Units, Rural Health Centres and Tehsil Headquarters.

However, the provincial government has given the permission of hiring only 220 paramedics.

The Punjab government will shortly be recruiting almost 5,000 paramedics throughout the province.

These paramedics are being hired in five different categories — dispensers, lady health visitors, sanitary inspectors, vaccinators and communicable diseases control supervisors.
