KARACHI, May 27: A young man committed suicide in his home in Orangi Town on Monday.

The police said that Mohammed Jameel, aged 30, hanged himself from a ceiling fan in his home in sector-9-E of Orangi Town. He had been jobless for the past several years, since the death of his wife. His four children were living with his in-laws. On Monday, when his eldest son came to visit him, he found him hanging from a ceiling fan.

CARJACKING: Thirty-one vehicles — 12 cars and 19 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city in the past 48 hours, the police said.

Six cars were hijacked. Six others were stolen.

Ten motorcycles were hijacked. Nine others were stolen.

KILLED: Five men were killed in the city in the past two days.

A young man was shot dead in PECHS on Monday.

The police said that Shahzad, aged 20, worked at Mohammedi General Store at Nursery Market. In the afternoon, a labourer, identified as Sajid, came to the shop. He had arguments with Shahzad. Sajid took out a pistol and opened fire on Shahzad. Shahzad was rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The suspect escaped in the crowded streets of the market. He worked as a labourer in a furniture workshop in the area, the police said.

A man was, reportedly, killed by his friend in his home in Shah Latif Town on Sunday.

The police said that the suspect, Lal Din, aged 40, had been residing in the house of Wajid Ali, aged 55, in Khuldabad, Shah Latif Town, for the past several years.

On Saturday night, Wajid’s wife heard noises and when she came out, Lal Din told her that two armed men killed Wajid. He left the house saying that he was going after the armed men, Wajid’s wife told the police.

Wajid’s wife lodged an FIR at the area police station in which she named Lal Din for killing of her husband.

The body was sent to the JPMC for post-mortem. Later, it was handed over to the dead man’s relatives, the police said.

Unidentified men killed a young man in Arafat Town, North Nazimabad, on Sunday.

The police said that Sadiq, aged 30, was injured by unidentified assailants in his beloved’s house in Arafat Town. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he died

A young man was shot dead in Nazimabad on Sunday.

The police said that Javed, aged 30, was shot and wounded by two unidentified men near Alamgir Mosque in Paposhnagar. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Sources at the hospital said that the dead man received two bullets in his head and chest.

The police said that the dead man was a rickshaw driver, father of two, and resided in Orangi Town.

A young man was shot dead in Pirabad on Sunday.

The police said that Shafeeq Sardar, aged 35, a cushion maker, father of two, was shot dead by three armed men who barged into his house in Pirabad No 2. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died. He had his repair shop in the same locality.

The police sent the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.
