KARACHI, Dec 7: Joint Doctors Action Committee on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration in front of Karachi Press Club against detention of Dr Akmal Waheed and Dr Arshad Waheed even after their bail from the Sindh High Court.

Holding banners and placards, a large number of doctors, including women and children, chanted slogans against detention of doctor brothers and demanded immediate their release.

Addressing protestors, Dr Sher Shah, General Secretary of Pakistan Medical Association said that it seems that "judiciary in the country is not independent". He said if the doctor brothers were not released, the doctors would announce a country wide strike. Dr Sher Shah Syed appealed to the Sindh Chief Justice to take suo moto action against the government decision.

PMA Karachi President Dr. Misbahul Aziz criticized the continous detention of Dr Waheed and Dr Akmal instead of their bail by the Sindh High Court, and said it was the worst example of dictatorship. He appreciated the Sindh High Court for issuing orders of bail of both the doctors, and said government could not prove any allegation against both the doctors. -PPI
