Subsidized wheat

KARACHI, Dec 7: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Tuesday presided over a high-level meeting here and reviewed the matter regarding provision of wheat to the people of Thar at subsidized rates , as announced by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

The meeting decided that 10,000 tons of wheat would be provided to the people of Thar every month. The wheat would be sold at subsidized rates (half-price) through various depots in cities and towns of Thar under the supervision of administration and food department.

The meeting also discussed the provision of wheat under the government quota. It was told that flour mills and chakkis were provided wheat at subsidized rates. The chief minister directed to increase the wheat quota for chakkis of the province. He observed that despite providing sufficient amount of wheat to flour mills, they complained of shortage. -PPI
