KARACHI, Dec 1: The KWSB in its on-going campaign against illegal water connections on Wednesday disconnected 63 more such connections, thereby increasing the number of illegal connections disconnected during the last five days to 144.
Of the total 63 illegal connections disconnected on Thursday, 60 were taken illegally from Dumlotee conduit's 42-inch dia pipeline while the remaining three were taken from Baldia's 33-inch dia pipeline by private hydrants.
KWSB spokesman said about 60 connections of one to three inches dia were illegally taken from Dumlottee's 42-inch dia pipeline (from MP Post to Safoora roundabout) by cattle-pens and a nursery.
The KWSB's superintending engineers, Najam Alam, Iftikhar Haider and executive engineer Salim Akhtar were also present. KWSB MD Brig Iftikhar Haider asked the officials concerned not to succumb to any 'unjust' pressure from any quarter while disconnecting illegal connections, saying that the campaign has been launched on the directives of President Musharraf and will continue till all hydrants are smashed.
