KARACHI, Nov 5: Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad visited various localities and bazaars to check security arrangements for Eid. The governor visited Clifton, Gulf Shopping Centre , Zamzama, Zaibunnisa Street, Saddar, Jamia Cloth Market and other areas for three hours on Thursday night.

During the visit, he was accompanied by Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqi, DG Rangers Maj Gen Javed Zia, IGP Syed Kamal Shah, CCPO, DIG Operations, Area Commandant Rangers, DIG Traffic and other officials.

Talking to people, the governor said that the government had taken special measures to ensure security at shopping centres with reference to heavy rush of people for Eid shopping.

He pointed out that the associations of shopping centres in collaboration with the police and administration had made such arrangements to provide maximum facilities to visiting public. He said that all possible security measures had been taken for the life and property of people so that they could carry out Eid shopping without any fear.

The governor inspected the reception camps set up in different markets and appreciated the institution of community policing, where under business organizations and people, in collaboration with the police and administration were themselves controlling and monitoring the entire situation.

The shopkeepers informed him that the number of shoppers was higher this year than that of the previous year and the markets had attracted great rush many days before the Eid.

Dr Ibad said that additional police and Rangers had been deployed at business centres for public security and they were performing their responsibilities efficiently. He also emphasized upon better sanitary arrangements at commercial centres.

At different places, the trade organizations expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements and police cooperation. When the governor reached Jamia Cloth Market, a group of hawkers requested him that they may be allowed to carry out their business till "Chand Raat". The governor issued directive to officials concerned in this regard. He also asked the hawkers to cooperate with the administration. -APP
