RIYADH, May 25: Opinion and editorial writers in Saudi Arabia are increasingly critical of the Indian moves toward escalating tension in South Asia. They have described the Indian moves as “simply utter madness.” They are also questioning the real motives behind the recent Indian moves towards escalating tension and generating war-like situation in the region.

Senior columnist and former Arab News Editor-in-chief, Dr Abdul Qader Tash, in his column “Confluence of interests between India, Israel” which appeared on Saturday said, “There is a grim resemblance in India’s systematic suppression of its Muslim citizens, denial of the legitimate rights of the Kashmiris and provocation to Pakistan and Israel’s repression of the Palestinians in occupied territories, denial of the legitimate rights of the Palestinians and the provocation to neighbouring Arab countries charging them with supporting Palestinian “terrorism.”

“The parallel between the Indian and the Israeli strategies is not an accident. It is the outcome of long-time joint planning and scheming between the military intelligence of the two countries. There are ample evidence to prove the covert Indo-Israeli alliance which began several years ago.”

In an editorial comment, the Jeddah-based English daily Saudi Gazette said on Friday India appeared to be heading for a wide-scale military confrontation with Pakistan that could lead to an allout nuclear war in South Asia.
