KARACHI, Oct 15: Protest day was observed in the city against the killings of Mufti Jameel and Maulana Nazeer Taunsvi in response to a call given by the Aalmi Majlis Tahffuze Khatme Nabuwwat, the Jamia Uloom al-Islamia, Binnori Town, and the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam.

Rallies were held at different places in the city after the Jumma prayers, where speakers described the killings as a 'great tragedy' and 'conspiracy against Islam and Pakistan'.

They demanded that the government should immediately arrest the culprits involved in the killings of ulema and exemplary punishment be awarded to them. They vowed to continue protest till the arrest of the culprits, and warned the government of law and order situation if the killers were not brought to justice.

On the occasion, Maulana Abdul Samad Halijvi, Mulana Mohammad Murad Halijvi, Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro, Maulana Mohammad Hasan, Maulana Abdul Gahfoor Qasmi, Maulana Asad Thanvi, Qari Sher Afzal, Maulana Umer Sadiq, Maulana Abdul Karim Abid, Hafiz Abdul Qayum Nomani, Maulana Imdadullah, Maulana Azizur Rehman Rehmani, and many other ulema condemned the killings. -PPI
