KARACHI, May 25: Eid Miladun Nabi was celebrated here with religious fervour and reverence on Saturday and different small and large processions were taken out from several places to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Small processions were taken out from different places throughout the city which joined the large procession on M.A. Jinnah Road near new Memon Mosque, Boulton Market. The large procession was taken out from there, which culminated at Nishtar Park where the speakers addressed the participants of the procession.
Another large procession was taken out from Kakri Ground, which also terminated at Nishtar Park.
The participants of the processions were chanting Na’at in praise of the holy prophet and the leaders at various occasions highlighted the teachings of the last prophet. They also highlighted various aspects of the life of the prophet and asked the people to follow his footsteps to get success in this world as well as in the hereafter.
The enthusiastic people had decorated several streets and different private and official buildings to celebrate the birthday of the prophet. A large number of green flags were hoisted atop several buildings and along different roads and streets.
The people in their localities organized Mehfil-i-Na’at and religious gatherings where speakers told the audience about the Islamic teachings of brotherhood, co-existence and harmony. Similar gatherings were also organized at different mosques and religious institutions.
The police and rangers were heavily deployed to maintain law and order and to keep an eye on unscrupulous elements.
