KARACHI, Oct 5: The Sindh Governor, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, has made it clear that only specified trade will be allowed at the New Sabzi Mandi, directing the concerned authorities to ensure the elimination of all sorts of mafia from there.

Presiding over a high-level meeting at the Governor house on Tuesday, the governor directed city government authorities to finalize the mandi's master plan within three days.

Taking strict notice of encroachments and other matters related to the mandi, Mr Ibad called for immediate redressing of measures in a transparent manner. He asked the city government to provide plans as per the specified laws and rules so that progress could be achieved in other related matters.

He directed that legal allottees be provided due facilities and action be initiated against the qabza mafia and elements involved in illegal activities. In this regard, he issued directives for constitution of a high-powered committee by the provincial government to work for sorting out problems.

He directed the agriculture department that the city government be paid out development charges as and when the allotment amount was received. -APP
