KARACHI, Sept 29: The newly appointed vice-chancellor of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences and Technology, Dr Iqbal Mohsin, removed finance director Abdul Sattar Chaudhry on Wednesday.

According to an official of the university, the sitting finance director was allowed to work till further order after termination of his contract period on May 29. The vice-chancellor took the decision of firing him in view of a number of complaints, the official said, adding that Deputy Registrar Iqbaluddin would look after the post till further orders.

However, Abdul Sattar informed this scribe that he was on leave and had denied to accept the letter pertaining to his removal presented to him when he was returning after courtesy meeting with the vice-chancellor.

He said that the action was pre-matured and the new vice- chancellor should have observed my working personally at least for a fortnight. He said that the decision to oust him was nothing, but, a punishment on account of 'detection of financial misappropriations' in the interest of the university.

Talking to Dawn, Vice-chancellor Dr Iqbal Mohsin, who assumed his new office on Wednesday, said that appointments on major administrative posts would be made soon. He said that the post of director finance of the university had been advertised, while the posts of registrar, controller of examination, deputy and assistant registrars and controllers would also be advertised soon.
