KARACHI, Sept 28: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association has criticized the city administration for its failure in prevention of clashes between students wings of political organizations at colleges and called for reclaiming buildings of educational institutes from their control.
In a joint statement issued on Tuesday, SPLA office-bearers Prof Syed Riaz Ahsan, Prof Aga Khalid, Ayub Mauree and Prof Manzoor Hussain Chishti said that the students' wings of political parties had become out of control and causing unrest among students and teachers.
"Owing to wall-chalking, hoisting party flags and placing posters by them, college buildings are presenting an ugly look," they said adding that activists of these groups often remain at odds with each other and use firearms in clashes.
SPLA office-bearers said that activists of these groups often humiliate college principals and teachers, which was deplorable and demanded administration to take steps for reclaiming colleges from their control.
They also called upon political parties to direct their student wings to work for betterment, promotion of education and welfare of students. SPLA representatives also condemned attack on Principal of Govt College Ranipur Prof Nisar Memon and demanded authorities to take action against rogue elements. - PPI
