BAHAWALPUR, Sept 23: On the orders of the Bahawalpur sessions court, Khairpur Tamewali police on Thursday registered a case against 10 people who had allegedly disgraced women by stripping and dragging them in fields at Mauza Ichrani the other day.

Reports said Allah Bakhsh had purchased land at Mauza Ichrani and this infuriated Allah Wasaya, who along with his accomplices, attacked Allah Bakhsh and women of his family working in the fields.

The goons also humiliated women and dragged them in the fields after stripping them. When Allah Bakhsh approached Khairpur police for registration of a cases against the suspects, they declined to do so. Thereafter, the family moved the sessions court which directed the police to register a case against 10 people. However, they have yet to be arrested.

GRANT: MPA Mohtarma Sitara Fayyaz has announced Rs500,000 for the construction of a new building of the press club. She made this announcement at a function organized at the club here on Thursday.

She pledged that she would also contribute Rs1.5 million for the press club project in the next three years. Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi had already announced a sum of Rs2 million for the project and the amount would be released shortly, she said.

IMPRISONMENT: Anti-Terrorism Court presiding officer Syed Afzaal Sharif Kazmi on Thursday awarded 20-year rigorous imprisonment and Rs20,000 fine to Zafar Iqbal.

Rajanpur police had recovered four Russian grenades, 15 bullets, Afghani currency and objectionable reading material from the convict. The police had submitted his challan in the ATC, Bahawalpur, some time back.
