ISLAMABAD, Sept 16: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said Pakistan is an investor-friendly country and offers very attractive investment opportunities to both local and foreign entrepreneurs.

Talking to a 19-member Thai delegation led by Prachaub Chaiyasan, Thai trade representative, here on Thursday, Mr Aziz said Pakistan was spending heavily on infrastructure development to facilitate the private sector investment.

"Thailand can, in particular, help Pakistan a lot in developing its tourism (sector)," he said, adding the two countries could also share experience in the field of investment for mutual advantage.

The prime minister said Pakistan offered immense investment opportunities and Thailand could undertake investment in housing construction industry and tourism sectors because situation in Pakistan was apt for exporting goods to the Middle East and Central Asia.

"We need to convert the existing relations with Thailand into business and industrial cooperation," the prime minister said. He said the government was planning to set up textile cities to facilitate export of value-added items.

The country is adopting a new strategy to encourage rapid industrialization for creating more job opportunities in the country, he added. The Thai delegation lauded Pakistan's performance in the economic field and evinced keen interest in investment in various sectors. Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan was also present on the occasion. -APP
